Seeing one poem composed by one of famous poet “Fujiwara Teika” who is known as also an editor of famous 100 poems selections in Heian period, I rather feel how a strong mind the pilgrimages have had during their pilgrim from Kyoto to Kumano sacred site.
It reminds me one quote known during Renaissance time, “Abandon all hope, ye who enter here”, written by Dante Alighieri.
