This trail was developed about 300 years ago for travelers and merchants from/to Kyoto and Osaka as a shortcut.
The trail is well preserved but this route is the most difficult section of the Kumano Kodo.
Since you have to cross over 1,000m mountains, this trail is only for trekking experts.
